What We Expect from Members

Krucible Lodge No. 318 is committed to actually living the principles of classical Freemasonry. To achieve this, we commit to investigating the principles themselves, their origins, how history has affected the transmission of these principles, and what we must do each day to live them here, and now. We value knowledge, intention, action silence and circumspection.

We study the esoteric foundations of the craft. We learn and perform exemplary ritual, and investigate exactly what the ritual was designed to teach. We do not accept dogma but rather accept knowledge arrived at through experience. We define brotherhood as a personal active commitment to each other and expect our members live this each day. We value and embrace open search for truth. We reject tyranny, political correctness, or social injustice. We practice charity directly and personally. We do not bend to the vicissitudes of life. We do not shirk from duty or the imperatives of honor.

Krucible Lodge accepts men who wish to walk with us in the active pursuit of this code.

If you are a Freemason and would like to join Krucible Lodge, please contact the Secretary who will put you in touch with the Membership Coordinator. You can reach the Secretary at Plural or members who desire to affiliate are required to attend meetings, degrees, and participate in the Lodge functions before submitting a petition.

Step 1 – How to become a Freemason

To become a Freemason, you must first submit a “Petition” (basically an application) to the Lodge you wish to join.  Selecting the right lodge is important! Each Masonic lodge has an individual focus - essentially, what we focus upon after you receive the degrees of Freemasonry. Krucible Lodge is focused on the esoteric practice and study of Freemasonry. Our Membership Coordinator will explain this to you in greater detail. Likewise, he will encourage you to visit several lodges in the area so that we find the best lodge for you and the he will assist you in making the proper introductions. It is most important for us to help you find the right lodge for you - even if it is not Krucible! We want your Masonic career to be fulfilling and successful.

In keeping our quality education to high standards, Krucible accepts a limited number of Petitions in January; however, we welcome and encourage you to attend our dinners and open monthly events.

To be eligible for membership in Krucible Lodge, you must:

  • Be a man.

  • Be at least 18 years of age.

  • Have the senses of a man, especially those of hearing, seeing and feeling.

  • Possess a belief in the existence of a Supreme Being.

  • Be capable of reading and writing.

  • Be a Washington State Resident.

  • Be of good moral character and free from previous felony convictions (we conduct criminal background checks for all petitioners).

  • Obtain three signatures on your petition from members of Krucible Lodge. These members must know you well enough to vouch for you. This will require you to ask questions and get to know us – likewise for us to learn about you!

  • Attended at least four consecutive dinners prior to submitting your petition.

What to know before submitting your Petition:

Freemasonry is a serious commitment that should never be entered into lightly.  Prior to submitting your Petition, you should get to know the Brothers of Krucible by attending dinners and meeting with its members.  You should also know and understand that Krucible demands much of its members and you will be expected to attend all meetings and participate in Lodge.  The Brothers of Krucible will commit a significant amount of time, educational opportunities, mentoring and resources to assist you in your Masonic learning.  It is expected, that you will return this favor throughout your journey in Freemasonry.

Submitting a Petition

You will be introduced to our Membership Coordinator who will work with you to meet each of the members. Once you have three members who will sign your petition and you have decided that you want to join Krucible , you will first fill out a Petition which will be provided to you upon request.  The fee to petition the Lodge is $300 and annual dues are $100. Once you completely fill out your Petition, you will need to bring it, along with the petition fee, to our January dinner.

Step 2 - Investigation

Upon submission of your Petition, the Lodge is required to assign Brothers to conduct a Masonic Investigation. They will contact you and setup a time to meet with you and your family to further discuss your interest in Freemasonry and Krucible; this is also an opportunity for you to ask any further questions you may have regarding Freemasonry, Krucible or the process of initiation.

The investigation is a requirement before we may vote on your membership into the Lodge.

The Ballot:

After your investigation, the Brothers will report their findings to the lodge and, and a secret ballot on your Petition will be taken.  The secret ballot is a Masonic custom and it must have unanimous approval.

Regardless of the outcome of the ballot, you will receive a letter from the Lodge advising you of the outcome of the ballot.

Step 3 - Initiation

If you are elected to join Krucible, you be informed of the time and day of your initiation (the first of three “Degrees”).  Krucible only initiates candidates once a year, so your attendance on this date is required.  On the day of your initiation, you are to arrive alone and be dressed in a suit and tie.  You will not need to prepare for this ceremony or bring anything with you.

Upon your initiation, you will be assigned both a mentor and a coach who will assist you throughout your Masonic journey. These will be explained to you later in greater detail.
